Arrival Havana

Day 2
Havana
After breakfast, hop on a cocotaxi to go from downtown Havana to Old Havana. Stroll through the streets and alleys taking in icons, such as the Arms Square, El Templete, the Palacio de los Capitanes Generales, the Cathedral Square, the Old Square and the Bodeguita del Medio, watering hole of American writer Ernest Hemingway. After lunch (not included), enjoy a ride in a 1950s American classic car to the Morro Castle, along the famous Malecón, all the way to the neighbourhood of Vedado. Then, after a safety briefing, pick up your e-bike for a tour of modern Havana through the neighbourhoods of Vedado and Miramar. Your first stop will be the Revolution Square, where you can admire the iconic silhouette of Che Guevara and the monument to José Martí. Continue along the legendary Christopher Columbus cemetery, cross the bridge over the Almendares River and meander through the residential neighbourhood of Miramar to appreciate the magnificent mansions of the old bourgeois families. Later, transfer to your casa particular.

Day 3
Havana - Pinar del Rio - Viñales
The tobacco route takes you to Pinar del Río, the greenest of all Cuban provinces, blessed with the best soil for tobacco in the world and spectacular limestone formations called Mogotes. Visit a tobacco farm where you can take a tour and you will be able to appreciate the entire processes as well as the skilled hands of the "torcedores" (cigar rollers) in the production of the famous cigars. Find out more about the leaf-to- cigar making process. Enjoy a typical Cuban lunch and, after a coffee, you will have the opportunity to light one of the exquisite puros made in house. Later, continue on e-bike across the city of Pinar del Río and onto the mountainous road leading to the stunning Viñales Valley. The valley and its iconic mogotes, home to a rich biota, will welcome you to the town, just a few kilometres ahead, where your casa particular accommodation awaits.

Day 4
Viñales - Cayo Jutías - Viñales
In the morning, the excursion to Cajo Jutías, a small island in the north coast of the province of Pinar del Río, famous for its dream-like white-sand beach, begins. Leave Viñales by a sinuous road, across mogotes and fields where farmers and oxen can be seen labouring. Once at the shore, take a 14 km embankment leading to the heavenly island of Cayo Jutías and enjoy some free time to bathe. Lunch (optional) can be savoured directly at the beach. Well into the afternoon, return to Viñales by bus.

Day 5
Viñales - Fierro - Las Terrazas
In the morning, you will pass the beautiful Mogotes for the last time and say goodbye to Viñales to ride your e-bike to the cave "Cueva de los Portales", which the Argentinean guerrilla warrior Che Guevara used as a hiding place during the Cuban Missile Crisis. The route continues to the "La Güira" National Park. Here you can enjoy a cool refreshment in an absolutely ecological ambience. In the park you can admire the various stone sculptures and contemplate the spectacular landscape. Afterwards, get on your e-bikes and ride on less travelled trails until you reach the main road. The last part of the route to the Las Terrazas Ecological Reserve, where the Hotel Moka is located, will be covered by bus. The Hotel Moka is an ecologically oriented hotel in the biosphere reserve of the Sierra del Rosario and has achieved a perfect design to fit in with the surrounding landscape. The hotel is framed by forested hills and wild nature. A perfect place to relax or enjoy quiet walks in the forest. Here you can also learn more about the various special community projects. The atmosphere here is quite unique and perfectly combines natural elements with architecture.

Day 6
Las Terrazas - Australia - Playa Larga
Today, a longer bus ride awaits you in the direction of central Cuba via the Cuban highway. Before arriving at the legendary Bay of Pigs, you will visit the former sugar village of Australia and gain insights into sugar cultivation in Cuba. From here you continue by bike along the Ciénaga de Zapata National Park, a swamp area known for its abundance of birds, to the Bay of Pigs to check into your Casa Particular in Playa Larga. Playa Larga is a quiet Cuban coastal location that has so far been spared the big tourist rush and thus still gives an authentic impression. During the afternoon you will have plenty of free time to get to know the fishing village, to stroll along the beach or simply to relax.

Day 7
Playa Larga - Caleta Buena - Cienfuegos
For e-bikers, the seaside road of Bay of Pigs is particularly fun to go along. It runs between the sea and the dense vegetation of the swamps, linking interesting places, such as la Cueva de los Peces, the largest cenote in Cuba, Punta Perdiz, a heavenly diving spot, and Playa Girón, battleground of the infamous CIA-supported invasion in 1961. At the latter, visit the local museum to learn about the historic clash through an exhibition that includes a plane used in the battle. For the final stretch of your e-bike tour head to Caleta Buena, a gorgeous place along the sea, where your lunch will be set up. After a short break, proceed to Cienfuegos on the bus. The “Pearl of the South” was founded by the French and features a modern urban layout and fascinating neocolonial architecture.

Day 8
Cienfuegos - Trinidad
Your day begins with an e-bike tour of the centre of the city of Cienfuegos, which is considered the cleanest city in Cuba and boasts its very own flair, which can be traced back to the French founders. Then head for the city of Trinidad, famous for its well preserved colonial architecture. To your left, appreciate the Escambray Mountain Range, where the National Park Topes de Collantes is. Lunch break at La Vega Farm, where you will savour traditional dishes while enjoying the exuberant nature. Proceed along the panoramic seaside road to Trinidad, crossing over rivers. At the end of a steep hill, a sign indicates you have arrived to your destination: welcome to Trinidad! Here, hundreds of homestays allow you to live with Cuban families. Welcome and check in at your casa particular. In the evening, explore the Trinitarian nightlife enjoying live music and dance at Casa de la Música or Casa de la Trova (optional).

Day 9
Trinidad
Morning walk through the oldest part of the city, which is designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This open-air museum transports visitors to a bygone age thanks to its colonial architecture. Start at the Plaza Mayor, surrounded by magnificent houses and an old church. Wander along cobblestone streets that were formerly used for carriages and learn more about the history of this colonial pearl and Cuba itself in a museum, before you get to try a typical cocktail from the region. In the afternoon, you will cycle about 12 km by e-bike to the beach of Playa Ancon, where you can relax on the wonderful sandy beach and take a refreshing swim.

Day 10
Trinidad - Sancti Spíritus
The first stop on today's cycling tour is the sugar cane mill valley and the hacienda of the sugar barons Manaca Iznaga with its large observation tower. A look into the past, back to the time of slavery, but also a reminder of the time when sugar was the green gold and played a key role on the world markets. This led to a boom in the sugar industry from which many people profited quickly. After the visit, we continue along the foothills of the Sierra Escambray to the provincial capital of Sancti Spíritus, one of the first seven cities founded in Cuba, still retaining plenty of its original colonial flair. You will be accommodated in one of the beautiful, centrally located colonial-style hotels. In the evening, we recommend a walk past the oldest stone arch bridge in Cuba, the Yayabo Bridge, which crosses the river of the same name. An architectural landmark not to be missed!

Day 11
Cayo las Brujas - Varadero - Jibacoa - Havana
After breakfast, the return journey begins by bus via Varadero to Havana. We expect to arrive late in the evening. For guests who want to stay at the beach, we offer the possibility of a beach extension directly in Cayo Santa María or Varadero.
Note: Timely connection to an international return flight cannot be guaranteed and is therefore not recommended on the same day. recommended. For this reason, we highly recommend booking an extra night.
