Day 1
Riviera Maya - Tulum - Chetumal
Your journey starts with the wonderfully situated Mayan ruins of Tulum, perched on a rocky promontory above the Caribbean Sea. We then travel on to the "Lagoon of the Seven Colours" in Bacalar. In the late afternoon visit the modern Maya Museum in Chetumal.

Day 2
Chetumal - San Ignacio (Belize)
In the morning you cross the border into Belize. Passing sugar cane fields, you reach the small town of Orange Walk, where you take a leisurely walk and gather your first impressions of Belize. Continue to the Mayan site of Altun Ha, formerly a major Mayan trading centre. On the Western Highway you will arrive at the renowned Belize Zoo, which is home to the tapir. In the late afternoon, you will arrive in San Ignacio.

Day 3
San Ignacio - Flores (Guatemala)
This morning you will visit the "Green Iguana Conservation Project". You can pet, feed or even adopt the green iguanas! You will also see a variety of local plants and animals that live in rainforests on a short hike through jungle trails. Continue towards the Guatemala border, where we can see the towering pyramid of Xunantunich from afar. Enjoy the breathtaking view from the main temple over the Mopan Valley. Thereafter, cross the border into Guatemala and travel to Flores.

Day 4
Mayastätte Tikal
A tour of several hours through the most monumental Mayan cult site, Tikal, where over 3000 buildings have been documented. The impressive Tikal is located in the rainforest of Petén, where howler monkeys, toucans and coatis live. Then visit the Morley Museum before being transferred to Flores in the afternoon for a short tour of the picturesque peninsula.

Day 5
Flores - Palenque (Mexico)
Transfer by land to the Usumacinta River, which forms the natural border between Guatemala and Mexico. Boat trip to the remote Mayan site of Yaxchilan, which was built in a river bend and boasts very well preserved temples and stelae. Your trip continues to the next highligh in Palenque.

Day 6
Palenque - Campeche
Guided tour of the mystical Mayan cult site with the fascinating Temple of the Inscriptions, tomb of the god-king Pakal. In the afternoon, drive to Campeche, the charming colonial town situated directly on the Gulf of Mexico, with its typical bastions in the historic old town centre.

Day 7
Campeche - Mérida
Visit to the most outstanding sites of the Mayan Classic: Kabah with its "Codz Pop" temple dedicated to the god of rain and Uxmal where architectural jewels such as the Pyramid of the Fortune Teller, the Nuns' Quadrangle or the Governor's Palace can be seen. Afterwards, continue to Mérida for a late afternoon city tour.

Day 8
Mérida - Chichen Itzá - Cancún
Drive to Chichén Itzá and visit the famous sanctuary with the unique Kukulcán pyramid, the warrior temple, the ball court and the observatory. This is an memorable experience and surely a crowning finale to your trip. Then, return transfer to Cancún or to your seaside hotel on the Riviera Maya.
